K Road, SunPower complete 25MW solar plant in California

EBR Staff Writer Published 31 October 2012

Power producer K Road Power Holdings and solar energy systems developer SunPower have completed the 25MW McHenry solar plant in Modesto, California.

SunPower has designed and constructed the plant, where it has installed Oasis Power Plant technology designed for utility-scale solar projects.

Power produced at the plant will be supplied to Modesto Irrigation District (MID), under a 25-year power purchase agreement.

SunPower is currently providing operations and maintenance services at McHenry, which is owned by K Road.

MID electric resources assistant general manager Roger VanHoy said, "The McHenry Solar Project takes advantage of our unlimited solar resource to provide clean, reliable electricity to customers, while helping MID comply with California's renewable energy requirements for utilities."

K Road chairman and CEO William Kriegel added, "The McHenry Solar Plant is a world-class solar project, and represents K Road's commitment to own and operate a diversified portfolio of solar PV generating assets under long term supply relationships."
